Ankle Surgery
Ankle surgery is a procedure aimed at treating various conditions affecting the ankle joint, such as fractures, ligament injuries, arthritis, or chronic instability. It is performed to relieve pain, restore function, and improve mobility when non-surgical treatments like rest, physical therapy, or medication are ineffective.
The surgery can be conducted using arthroscopy, a minimally invasive technique where small incisions and a camera are used to visualize and repair issues within the joint, or through open surgery, which involves larger incisions to directly access the ankle joint for more severe cases. This may include realigning bones or performing joint fusion. Recovery typically involves immobilization, physical therapy, and a gradual return to normal activities as guided by the healthcare provider.
